The best Interior Design this month
This month, I wanted to share a beautiful new-build home in Michigan that looks anything but typical. If you’re a fan of warm beige interiors that wrap you in a cosy, inviting atmosphere, I think you’ll fall in love with this design.
The front of the house features gorgeous fluted pillars and a stunning pendant light, creating a real wow moment from the very first glance. But that’s just the beginning. Step inside and the interior is even more impressive, with lighting in every room that feels like jewellery for the space
Let’s start with the porch. This small area is packed with beautiful details. From the wall panelling that continues all the way up to the ceiling, complete with crown details and headers, to the pillars and stunning floor mosaic, every element has been carefully considered. I particularly love how the flooring transitions seamlessly from the mosaic into the wooden floor, creating a lovely connection between the two spaces. You can spot Jean and Grace’s signature touches straight away, along with their elegant yet soft approach to design.
The kitchen is beautifully symmetrical, as is often seen in their designs, but this time with the addition of a brave yet soft pastel blue. There are so many details here that I love, including the small ledge shelf made from the same material as the worktop.
Another clever idea is using the same surface material above the cooker, where the extractor hood sits. Genius! It’s not only visually seamless but also incredibly practical and easy to clean after hours of cooking.
On the opposite wall is another piece of design mastery: the coffee bar.
The panelling runs all the way around the cabinetry, almost creating a frame around the bar. The cabinetry itself is full of beautiful details. Small pilasters between the cabinet doors and delicate moulding give the whole unit a sophisticated and unique feel.
Every little corner seems to have its own wow moment, creating beautiful views wherever you look.
The house also has a second kitchen, specially designed around the client’s family business of baking and cooking. I think this might be the first time I’ve seen a dedicated workstation integrated so seamlessly into kitchen cabinetry, and it works incredibly well.
But the real cherry on top has to be the movable kitchen island. It sits on casters, allowing it to be moved whenever needed, and the worktop is divided into two different surfaces. One side is stone, perfect for rolling out dough, while the other is wood, ideal for chopping and food preparation. A beautiful brass trim separates the two materials, adding another thoughtful detail to the design.
Moving on to the garden room, I have to highlight the fantastic brick feature wall. It’s actually a continuation of the exterior wall brought inside, creating a subtle connection between the house and garden.
It’s such a simple but effective detail — the kind of thing you might not immediately notice, but which makes a huge difference to how cohesive the overall design feels.
The wall panelling wraps around the room too, softening the space and creating a beautiful connection with the rest of the house.
My favourite room in the house has to be the conservatory.
It’s such an airy and beautiful space, filled with natural light, and interestingly, it’s the only room in the house with dark wall paint. The cabinetry in this room is almost a piece of art in itself. The deep plum colour works beautifully against the brick wall, while the brass wire-mesh fronts, marble countertop, brass handles and wall sconces bring in layers of texture and warmth.
There are multiple seating options too, including a corner sofa and a table with chairs, making the room feel incredibly versatile. I could probably sit here all day!
And then there’s the pendant light. I would never have thought to use such a statement light beneath a skylight, but it works incredibly well. The shape of the pendants almost mimics the lines and form of the skylight above, creating a really clever visual connection between the two.
I could probably write an entire essay about this house and all of its incredible details, but I’ll save you from reading that much!
The final space I want to highlight is the bathroom. It’s incredibly elegant, with a simple colour palette, but once again, it’s the details that make the design. The archway framing the bathtub, window and modern brass light creates another beautiful view — one of those moments where you could easily find yourself standing there just admiring it. The layout is also beautifully considered, with a dedicated makeup area and even a glass cabinet, something I don’t think I’ve ever seen in a bathroom before. The wooden vanity has gorgeous handles, while the unusual wall sconces add another point of interest without overwhelming the space. It’s such a subtle way of designing a bathroom, yet the overall effect is anything but subtle.
Looking at the house as a whole, you can see an incredible eye for detail, scale and symmetry. Every element feels carefully aligned, considered and planned.
What I particularly love about Jean and Grace’s approach to design is how beautifully they balance aesthetics with the needs of the client. Nothing feels designed simply for the sake of looking good. Every decision has a purpose, while still creating a home that feels incredibly special.
And perhaps that’s what makes this new build so successful. It doesn’t feel like a typical new build at all. It feels warm, personal, considered and full of character — proof that even a brand-new house can have the soul and charm of a much-loved home.

Interesting Fact: A Collaboration
One of the most exciting things for me this month has been the collaboration between H&M and Kelly Wearstler. I’ve been waiting for this collection for months, so when it finally launched, I was very excited to see what they had created. The home collection features 29 interior pieces, including modular furniture, statement dining and lounge chairs, lighting, sculptural vases and tactile decorative objects. There is also an eight-piece ready-to-wear fashion collection, featuring pieces such as a coated cotton trench coat, cropped leather jacket, sequin skirt and vase-print slip dress.
So, what do I think?
I’ll be honest — I’m a little disappointed.
I absolutely love Kelly Wearstler and really admire her journey as a designer. Her maximalist, sculptural style has developed so beautifully over the years, and her projects are always full of incredible proportions, colour combinations and unexpected details. She is definitely one of my favourite designers, and someone whose work I genuinely look up to.
I really like the colour palette of this collection, but for me, it just doesn’t have the wow factor I was expecting. Kelly’s own collections feature so many beautiful and timeless pieces that you could almost furnish an entire home with them. In comparison, some of the H&M pieces feel quite specific and statement-led, which means they might not work as easily across different interiors.
Perhaps I was hoping for something a little more unexpected, but also more versatile- pieces that could bring a touch of Kelly’s signature style into a wider range of homes.
That being said, huge respect to Kelly for what she has achieved, and for continuing to create such distinctive and inspiring work. I’ll always be excited to see what she does next!

One Thing That I Learned
You judge others by their actions, but yourself by your intentions.
Let me explain.
Someone forgets your birthday. Unforgivable, right? How could they forget this one day of the year? You start questioning the friendship and wondering how much they really care about you.
But then you forget someone else’s birthday.
Oh no… I had so much going on. Work was incredibly busy, and things have been a little difficult in my relationship. They know I love them. They know I care. I was just overwhelmed.
See the difference?
Or imagine you’re rushing to work. You’re driving less carefully than usual, forgetting to indicate, speeding a little here and there and generally cutting corners. But you have an important meeting you can’t be late for, your morning coffee decided to spill all over your perfectly ironed shirt, and you had to change your entire outfit before leaving the house.
So, of course, you have a perfectly reasonable explanation for why you’re driving the way you are.
But then someone else overtakes you, sits on your tail and makes you feel rushed.
How rude! What is wrong with people?
Sound familiar?
We often judge other people by what they do, while judging ourselves by what we meant to do.
And I think that explains a lot.
That’s why we get defensive when someone calls us out.
That’s why apologies can sometimes feel hollow.
And that’s why everyone seems to think they’re the reasonable one.
Because your own mistakes always come with a backstory.
To everyone else, they’re just mistakes.
It’s something I’ve been trying to remind myself of lately: before judging someone by their actions, it’s worth remembering that we rarely know the whole story. And perhaps we should give other people the same understanding we naturally give ourselves.
One item that I have fallen in love with
While looking for some décor pieces for a current staging project, I came across this beautiful Green Ansel Stripe 100% Cotton Bed Set and immediately fell in love with it.
Stripes are everywhere at the moment, but what really caught my eye was the little bow detail on the pillowcases. It’s such a small addition, but it makes the whole set feel much more charming and sophisticated. Sometimes it’s those tiny details that make something feel special.
The set comes in five different colour options, so there’s plenty of flexibility depending on the bedroom’s colour palette. I’d pair it with a simple, plain linen set underneath and a few carefully chosen decorative cushions to create that relaxed, layered look that feels luxurious without trying too hard. The kind of bedroom that looks like it belongs in a magazine but still feels comfortable enough that you actually want to get into bed.
